Rutas
Literarias

In 2019 LPP launched a reading promotion program to provide library managers with “activity guides” to amplify the reading experiences of children. A “Ruta Literaria” (literary route) designates a “roadmap” of books in the library based on a topic and provides ideas and techniques for related multi-media activities. The effect is to provide the children with a multi-dimensional experience, all reinforcing the joy of reading and developing creativity, understanding and curiosity.

The “Ruta Literaria” concept originated in Europe in the 18th century as individuals embarked on cultural trips that connected interdisciplinary and geographical destinations around a specific author, a literary trend, or a specific era of literature.

In 2019, LPP designed its first Literary Route, which consists of a journey through five children’s books, each of which is called a “station”. At each station, the reader stops for an average of two hours to read the story and then engages in related exercises that may include drawing, group conversations and interaction, and educational games.

During the 2020 LPP Annual Conference, 150 people participated in training based on a Ruta Literaria called “Those who want to change to please.” Along the route, readers explored questions concerning values, identity, appearance, and gender equity and equality.
