Book Donations

Thanks to sponsor donations, LPP purchases from 6,000 to 7,000 books each year and provides each network library with approximately 100 new titles to expand their collection. As these libraries serve as “oases”, many of them now have collections of 700 or more donated books.

LPP follows a rigorous procedure for book selection in which staff and Regional Coordinators spend hours reviewing publishers’ catalogs to evaluate content and reviews. Titles are selected based on the following criteria:

  • They are written in Spanish (requirement)

  • They are written by Mexican authors (preference)

  • They are winners of an award or have participated in an important competition (preference)

  • They do not contain religious or political agendas (requirement)

  • They promote humanistic values (requirement)

  • The subjects and reading levels are age-appropriate for the users (requirement).
