Training Workshops

Training workshops are at the heart of the LPP project, promoting learning, creativity, and program innovation. Each year, the daylong Annual Conference brings together experienced presenters who lead immersive training sessions, laying the groundwork for continued learning through both online and in-person, hands-on workshops.

These sessions are designed to equip library managers with practical skills they can carry directly into their communities. In turn, they implement engaging programs for children in school and municipal libraries, extending the reach and impact of LPP far beyond the conference itself.

In recent years, workshop topics have included creative writing, puppet-making and performance development, and approaches to supporting children’s emotional well-being—drawing in part on materials from the Spain-based publisher Sentir. For many participants, this represents a rare and valuable opportunity for specialized professional development not otherwise available to them.

By investing in the growth and creativity of library managers, these workshops amplify the effectiveness of LPP-sponsored reading programs and help foster richer, more meaningful experiences for the children they serve.
